Light as a Feather

Designed by Søren Ravn Christensen for Vita, the Eos lampshade caused a big buzz when it first debuted at the London Design Festival. Its oval paper shade is covered in layers of hand-applied goose feathers, forming a weightless, cloud-like profile. Each cleverly designed shade can be used as a pendant, table, or floor lamp, and emits a soft, cozy glow.

The Eos pendant light is made from 2,100 goose feathers (the same used in down clothing and bedding products), is completely eco-friendly, and biodegradable. Each feather is carefully positioned on a paper core by hand. The light bulb is shielded so you won't be blinded by its glare. Includes a seven foot white textile cord assembly kit along with a white ceiling canopy. Maximum wattage is 60-watts incandescent, 26-watts compact fluorescent or 9-watts LED. All feathers used are a by-product of the food industry. Goose feathers that would otherwise be burned are instead sanitized and repurposed thus diminishing the environmental impact. None of the goose feathers are derived from live or mistreated geese.
